FAQ

How long have you been drawing for?

Since I could hold a pencil I guess. I grew up with Sailormoon, Doraemon and Dragonball so anime was my main influence. Grade 10 or when I was 15 was the time when I began drawing seriously and became familliar with digital paintings.

Did you learn how to draw from technique books or from art classes?

Nope, everything I've done so far is 100% self taught. I took some life drawing classes back in grade 8 when I was 13, but that was just a muck around class so I didn't really learn anything.

Will you draw for me?

Unless you are a friend or someone or a company who is willing to pay me, then no, sorry. It's much more rewarding to draw for a cause in my own opinion and I am also a bit paranoid, don't really like to draw for strangers haha.

Can you tell me how to do this in photoshop? Is there a *insert technical object name here* in painter, how did you make this site, can you tell me how to do php?

Honestly, if you ask me things like that, you might as well be asking the wall. 1. There is such thing as GOOGLE, type your query in there, most of the time it'll come up with a bunch of tutorials that would be more useful than me. 2. I wouldn't know what you are talking about because half the time my knowledge for technical names are non existent, I draw and use tools by second nature, I don't think. OTL .

This website is really basic html coding and half the time I ask my good friend Shilin to help me. Google or your nerdy roomate is your friend.

What do you use to make your manga?

- normal A4 printing paper
- HB pencils
- rubber
- ruler
- fine point ink pens
- photoshop CS2
- painter IX

First I rule in the panels on the paper and then I sketch out the charas and speech bubbles. Then I ink everything with the fine point ink pen and rub the pencil marks out. Scan into computer and finish some more detailed inking job on painter IX, then I finally do some more touch up and toning in photoshop CS2.

I use copic markers or photoshop for some of the coloured pages.

How long does it take? Why are you so slow at updating?

It takes ages. Most professional mangaka work in a team, one person to draw, one person to tone, another couple of people to edit and do touch ups. Sadly I don't work in a team, so I have to do all of these things by myself. Just one page takes me hours to sketch and ink, plus I also need to eat and socialize and go to the bathroom so that's why I'm so slow. But I will try my best to update as often as possible.
